Matt Douthwright Matt Douthwright Pictures and Video

You have been apart of the video process since "Four Seasons" (Theory's second video,) how has filming for the videos changed since then?
I feel at first I was just a kid who loved skating and had a chance to have a few tricks in Four Seasons, then it grew into having a part in Over It and now I feel like I am older and familiar with the process and what it takes to come up a solid video part that contributes to the video in a positive way.

You plan out your tricks more than anyone I have ever filmed. How do you go about filming a video part? What is your ultimate goal for your section?
When it comes down to it, it is pretty simple; think of tricks you either really like doing, or want to do, and look for spots and find the best possible place to do them at. As for a goal in my part I think as long as you are proud of what you put out then there's no worries. Just to push myself and put it all together and learn more tricks and progress.

There are so many things that come into play while filming that could make or break a trick. Why not just settle for usable?
"Good enough is good enough" doesn't cut it when you have to watch it later on. I think just put your best foot forward and all the time, if you can do it better... do it better. Don't settle because you will regret it when you have to go back to the spot and film it again, especially with the price of gas right now.

Lets talk about spots. Few dudes out here really work hard to find, create, or make spots work. I know you are one of those dudes who does. What are some lengths that you've gone for a spot?
Alot of people have told me that I do weird stuff to make spots work that they wouldn't bother to spend the ten bucks for bondo or use a sign. I don't think that most of the stuff is hard, crazy or weird, if you can make somthing that you are into skateable for a few dollars why not. As for what lengths I have go to for a spot I would have to say, stealing a no parking sign and moving it down the street so no one would park in this landing of a gap. But still, I think other people do worse stuff than that.
